World Space Week is an important international event celebrated all across the world during the week October 4th to 10th of every year. These two dates commemorate two important milestones in space exploration: 4th October being the date on which the first man made satellite, Sputnik-1 was put in orbit in 1957 and 10th October being the date on which the UN declaration for peaceful uses of outer space came into force. World Space Week is celebrated according to a United Nations resolution since 1999.
